Wet and Wild Waters

There is nothing as exciting as going out to have some fun with people you Love. Personally i constantly feel like my life has been activated after a period of dormancy. Joyce loves adventure, her passion to explore new destinations is just on another level. She can wake up at middle of the night to just make a call to ask "ukona form kesho? (do you have any plans for tomorrow)... i want to take you out but know the bill is on you"😂. She has brought the other side of me into reality that seemed to be so far from being actual, a dream that wasn't clear. Now i can walk shoulders high and attest that life is beautiful.

This all description brings us down to the wet and wild waters (Courtesy Lounge) just approximately 2 km from the busy Thika super highway. I can bet many Nairobians are conversant with the superhighway but not the name of the bus stages.. And this forces me to ask a question, do you know the Toll bus stage near the weighbridge on your way to Juja? If you know then you're lucky, but if you don't you will get lost but finally get your way there; am just trying to be honest😆. Hahaha I stay near this place and have never known it actually exists till Joyce showed up.

Now coming to the navigation aspect from Nairobi City, get any public means heading to Juja or Thika and alight at the Toll stage. The pathway leading to the Courtesy Lounge is a rough murram road, you can either decide to walk or take a motor bike at a cost of Ksh 50. The Coutesy Lounge (Wet and Wild Waters) is built near a dam with some floating 'castles' for relaxation purpose best for people who aren't afraid of sinking or water phobic..hahaa. This was my first point in life as a grown up to do a boat ride, fear sometimes crawls deep within but you just have to maintain ( if you panic she will panic more, men proverb).

Being a Masters student has given me the opportunity to have friends all over Africa, and at this point in time it was an honor to take some of them out to see the other side of the Kenyan life. Starting with Wasso from the DRC, Joel from Uganda, Lucy, a Kenyan and Vanessa from Burundi.

Men get hungry and make a mistake of ordering an amount of food one may not believe, its somehow better to go out with a lady for some food moderation courtesy call...haha... 2.5 kgs of meat, 6 chunks of ugali, kachumbari, 2 plates of vegetables ( just a hint; nothing was left after the whole feasting).. It was like we weren't prepared to eat again for the rest of our lives after the fun out😂.. Wasso got so excited when he saw the plate of meat ( and i personally can't tell why Joyce loves staring at him while making jokes. Let me believe its because of the Congolese lifestyle and nothing else attached to this🤨). The period between the ordering of the food and serving took so long till I took off with Joyce for a little walk just to get off our focus from the 'abdominal' frustration. You know 30 minutes in some places means 2 hours, haha hope you understand what i mean.

It was getting dark, but we had planned not to leave before enjoying a boat ride. This is where for the first time i heard the voice of the most quiet person among us talking without pausing ( Joel, the Ugandan).. This guy loves books, i couldn't imagine he could talk like this. This is where i came to discover tours and adventure can make a person lively, from being hidden and composed to vibrant and energetic. We took off from the shores of the dam almost at dusk, to me it was the best moment to clearly see the buildings from the other side while inside the boat.. it was such a spectacular scene. A normal boat ride goes for around Ksh 200- Ksh 250, while a speed boat goes for Ksh 500.. Am telling you can't afford to live this place without the water experience.

Time to go home guys, we had to pack up and leave the Wet and Wild Waters. Before we close, let me share what really amused us; the place is easily accessible and very close from Nairobi, I can go there any day, anytime whenever i feel like. Such a fascinating site to visit.

I hope our story has shade some light, brought a lot interest and excitement to visit the place. If so, kindly reach out to us via 0707695671/0737386926, email: info@joyblyadventures.com or follow us on our facebook page: Joybly adventures for such packages and many more.
