Sagana is a small town named after the Sagana River that acts as a boundary between Murang’a County and Kirinyaga County. Spending like almost 1 hour 30 minutes along the busy Nairobi-Nyeri highway, we took off at Sagana town and managed to locate the Rapids Camp within a short time. Outstanding sceneries along the way were the eye catching landscape of Murang’a County and the river flow. The place is not easily accessible along the uncomfortable dusty murram road, but we finally got there and had a time well spent. It is easier to use a personal vehicle or a tour vehicle as compared to public means so that you can save on time to avoid the hustle.

Once we set our feet there, a man approached us and introduced himself in such a polite way. He could easily not hide out his faith in God. He later explained the place in detail opening to us the requirements and the charges for the entrance (Ksh 200 per head).

Our main aim for the visitation was to inquire on what was offered in order to make a planned package to clients who've got some interest in chilling out on this side of life. Getting to the other side of the Sagana River was quite a milestone that had to be overcome. There is no other way to cross other than through a boat ride. It was such a scary experience with the rapid flow of the river and the waterfall just ahead of us, this now where you start thinking about your mom back at home😂. II could see our boat moving towards the waterfall, sometimes you just have to hide your feeling and revive yourself with the Swahili words 'kama ni mbaya wacha ikuwe mbaya'( if its bad let it be bad). We finally got to the other side of the river, and with a sigh of relief i could see the smile out of Joyce's face, it was quite an interesting daring moment. We found our way to the camping site where a young man was sent to hear us out. John was such an amazing young man not moved by his own self interest but willingness to serve and give out the best. I was amazed by his reception and commitment to serve the people under his care.

He took us around the camping site, such an ideal place to pitch tents for outdoor lifetime camping experience, The rapids camp offers spacious luxurious tents(Dome and Bazuka),pitched strategically for spectacular views and exciting feeling near the river that you will never get anywhere else.

Some of the activities offered at the Rapids Camp include: White Water Rafting,Waterfall Challenge,Gecko,Kayaking,Bungee Jumping,The Plunge,River Swims,River Glides. The cost for each activity ranges from Ksh 2000 to Ksh 5000. They customized a package for us where you can pay Ksh 5000 and enjoy ALL the activities instead of one, such a good deal to share to our clients.

The place is quite interior and getting lost at your first visit might seem very possible as we did trying to navigate where exactly it was. All in all we truly had the best outing that probably suit our budget and made us come back home full of real smiles😃. We had to say goodbye to the team that made this exploration a success, and this time round the boat rider promised to take us near the waterfall to have a feeling of the breeze as a token of 'appreciation' to our valued visit. Allow me not to share how i felt this time round😂.
