Getting out of the busy city life is an exciting venture worth investing on. Unfortunately settling on a destination that is not so far from Nairobi at an affordable rate and with a perfect view together with fun activities to do within the vicinity can somehow pose a challenge due to the time factor to identify such places. Keeping this in mind, allow us to introduce you to Sirville Lodge at the Lake Elementaita. This amazing and attractive resort since is quite a distance from the Nairobi-Nakuru highway therefore public transport can pose a challenge to getting to the place at your own set time convenience. Having your own means can be of great benefit offering less panicking moments. Upon our arrival at almost 2 pm in the afternoon, our attention was captured by the fantastic view of the well manicured garden. What excited me most were their rooms; set as African traditional hut surrounded by a rush tropical bush, Kikuyu Traditional style 'Thingira'. We were received so warmly at the reception where we were taken all around the hotel by Carol (one of the employees). We stepped into their luxurious rooms: superior Lake view rooms, deluxe rooms and the executive suits. They all have balconies strategically placed ensuring magnificent and breathtaking views of the iconic Lake Elementaita at any time of the day making you feel like settling in to stay for a while. Every time we got into a room Robby would tell me 'Babe take a photo of this one,it is just amazing and beautiful.'

Their rooms have

  • In-Room TV Screens

  •  Balcony/Terrace

  •  In-Room Breakfast

  •  24 Hr Room Service

Finally we got to the swimming pool area. Taking a deep body cooling sensational spree into this beautiful water point overlooking the lake would have been the best experience for us though we didn't due to Robby's constant excuses "It is late;there are people around;i didn't carry my swimming costumes" 🤣,he was fearing something that he didn't want to mention or expose, hoping during our next visit he will be the first one to get into the waters.

We wouldn't end our trip without a taste of nyama choma (barbeque) at Kekopey, we had to refrain from having any meal at the hotel so as to preserve our appetite to take a non- regrettable amount of the Kenyan delicacy at this all time famous joint. In 7 minutes drive we were there,we could just see the smoke from a far with the aromatic smell almost blocking my nostrils.. Saliva almost ran down my chin to my t-shirt.🤤🤤..

There are so many butcheries here, and each one has a number of aggressive 'sales persons' running towards any strange face they purposely believe wants to approach any of the joints for a quick bite. Immediately after setting our feet on the ground by the roadside,we were all surrounded by the white robed 'officials' exercising their daily duty to interested customers. They can really be so annoying at times...hahaha just an advice to the quick tempered to make your decision before they appear, otherwise you might be forced to postpone your expected feasting plan to a future date😂. Luckily on our side we had already set our eyes on one of the joints letting our legs lead us without crumbling due to the intense coercion from the surrounding. I was so much excited leaving Robby to take a seat while i being too curious to take pictures outside and being cautious at the same time to safeguard our 'chosen best' from being exchanged.. hahaa you know tables can be overturned at the last minute while not keeping watch, if you are a true Kenyan you understand what i mean. The nyama choma was served with ugali accompanied with kachumbari (vegetable salad). Other accompaniments you might ask out for include green vegetables, soft drinks and French fries. We ate to our full satisfaction making sure that have broken every bone and chewed every meat not to regret after departing. Our personal eating slogan is to make sure we eat to the fullest so as to relinquish our cravings for a longer duration till we visit at a future date.. A hard one, right?

Before leaving we had to make a covenant that Kekopey will always be one of our destinations every time we set foot in the Rift Valley.
